SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERSHIP GUIDELINES
There shall be eleven (11) voting members of the School Board. Nine (9) voting members of the School Board shall be appointed. At least six (6) of these members shall be parents or guardians of children registered at St. Thomas the Apostle School, and a maximum of three (3) shall be from the general membership of the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish community. The Presidents or designees of the St. Thomas Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and the Spartan Club (YAC) shall also serve as voting members on the School Board.
There shall be three (3) ex-officio, non-voting members of the Board: the pastor or associate pastor of the Parish, the principal of the School, and a teachers’ representative.
School Board members serve a term of two (2) years in length. Members shall not serve more than two (2) terms.
INTERESTED IN BECOMING A MEMBER?
Those who might be interested in serving on the school board should submit their name to the school administration or pastor. As membership seats become available, the principal and pastor will consider, select and invite new candidates to join the board, based on the current needs of the school and administration.
