What is Girl Scouts
Girl Scouts Faith

Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana

Any girl who registers with a Girl Scout Troop through St. Thomas the Apostle Parish and School should expect to:

Focus on Faith, including religious award programs as a means to catechize and evangelize. "We keep God in Girl Scouting!"

Receive structured, safe, and supervised age-appropriate programming and activities. All adult leaders have undergone background checks, safety training, diocesan Safe Environment training, and have completed age-specific leader trainings. Our troop leaders work together and support each other whenever possible.

Engage in service to our parish and extended communities. We show our Catholic identity in service to others.

Benefit from the Mission of Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA)- to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.

Have fun, make friends, and experience fantastic opportunities!

Our local council of GSUSA is Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana (GSNIM). Our troops participate in programming with the support of the staff and local volunteers of GSNIM. Troop membership is available to girls aged 5-18 in the following levels:

  • Girl Scout Daisy, grades K-1

  • Girl Scout Brownie, grades 2-3

  • Girl Scout Junior, grades 4-5

  • Girl Scout Cadette, grades 6-8

  • Girl Scout Senior, grades 9-10

  • Girl Scout Ambassador, grades 11-12

Because the Troop Leaders at St. Thomas the Apostle are parents of our girls, the leaders move up levels with their daughters. This means new troops are established for the younger girls every year.

Please contact the Girl Scout School Coordinator for the most accurate information to join any troop.
